Pre-School & Kindergarten

The atmosphere of the Mixed Age Kindergarten provides a joyful, quiet transition from home to school. In a warm, homelike atmosphere, the child’s inherent abilities can unfold. Through the teacher’s skillful work with the child’s innate tendency to imitate, a strong moral foundation and healthy will is nurtured in the child. Imaginative play in the preschool years transforms into free, creative thinking and decision making during later childhood and adulthood.

The daily activities include:

• Greetings
• Free or imaginative play

• Dressing up, playing house, constructing play structures, role-playing, making believe, etc.
   with ordinary household materials
• Watercolor painting, beeswax modeling, baking/cooking, handcrafts, seasonal crafts and
   activities
• Clean up
• Circle time
• Songs, verses, and movement creatively tied into the rhythms of the year
• Snack
• Outdoor walks, play or gardening
• Storytelling
• Closing Verse

The Mixed Age Kindergarten Program welcomes children from the ages of three and one half through six years. This combined age classroom gives children a family-like atmosphere and builds an appreciation of others
